Not again! [Sad Face] For the second year in a row, eBay and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) have teamed up in their efforts to fight against counterfeit goods in the fashion industry. We’ve all seen it: questionable Louis this and Gucci that hanging from cheap stands on busy downtown street corners, or hidden within oversized trunk cases in discreet alleyways. Well, the industry was sick of it! And in the last few years, major companies have been more active in exposing makers and sellers of the faux goods, and making sure their clients are more informed on what makes an item truly authentic.
In order to raise awareness of the counterfeit issue and bring attention to talented and original designers, a collection of totes all bearing the catch phrase “You Can’t Fake Fashion” were created. Over 75 CFDA designers created one-of-a-kind designs of the tote; some of the top names included Rachel Roy, Betsey Johnson, Diane von Furstenburg, Tracy Reese, and David Yurman. The bags went on sale exclusively through eBay’s Fashion Vault on March 20th for $200. As was the case last year, all the designs sold out in a mere few hours! No worries, though. You can still support the cause by purchasing one of four standard totes for $45. Customize it, and make it your own! All proceeds will go towards the CFDA Foundation.
Are you down for the cause?
