Not even a month after the release of his scarf collaboration with George Condo and M/M Paris, Kanye West is rumored to be working on a fashion collection to debut for the Spring 2012 season. He is said to be in Paris working on it as we speak, putting his time as an intern at Fendi to good use as well as the knowledge he hopefully acquired from his shoe collection with Louis Vuitton.
Spring 2012 shows start in September and Kanye would be debuting his collection for both men and women then. Whether or not he will stage a high-fashion runway show or a more streamlined presentation is still unknown. He could also go the route of Tom Ford and keep his collection strictly for the eyes of editors and fashion buyers, though Kanye is one for drama and will most likely want to make the collection visible to his fans worldwide.
The suspense around the collection is building, especially the idea of how the pieces will look. Will the collection be androgynous, like his Celine tunic worn at this year’s Coachella Festival? We will have to wait and see.
Here are some celebrity fashion lines we would like to see just as much as Kanye’s collection.
With her fearless sense of style and high-fashion sensibility, Rihanna’s clothing might not have a lot of fabric, but her pieces will surely be hot.
2. Genevieve Jones & Shala Monroque
Genevieve and Shala are style mavens and a collaboration between the two would mix both of their love for luxury design, art and travel. Genevieve already has her own line of jewelry and accessories, but we would love to see her expand to include ready to wear.
3. June Ambrose
With a turban line that sold out before we could blink, June is one of fashion’s most watched and most imitated. She loves bright colors, mixed prints and statement pieces and we would love to be able to buy her designs.
4. Lenny Kravitz
Though Hollywood has its share of good looking men, let’s face it: they do not know anything about fashion. Lenny has always had his own unique personal style and we would love to see him use it for a men’s collection or even for pieces that he would like to see on women.
5. Julia Sarr-Jamois
The Wonderland Magazine fashion editor stops traffic with her quirky ensembles and larger than life afro. We know that Julia’s collection would be edgy and fierce, combining London punk with feminine silhouettes.
What do you think of Kanye West’s upcoming fashion collection? Will you buy it? Which celebrity fashion lines would you like to see?
