    i totally wub grace jones.

    she just makes me proud to be a black woman. she is just pure awesomeness.

    i so regret not see her in concert not too long ago. hopefully i will.

    grace is an artist and she is unique. none of these little girls around now can touch her. grace was/is in your face with her blackness. she toyed with it in a way that was similar to josephine baker and the banana routine. but grace’s stuff is more upfront and challenging imo. she is completely unapologetic about being black – no weave, no skin lightener, no nose job, no lip reduction. yet she doesn’t really talk about being a black woman much because she doesn’t have to… it’s all there…in her insistence on being herself. and she has always had white men crawling all over her… lol.

    one of my favorite lines from a song is from walking in the rain…

    Feeling like a woman,
    Looking like a man,
    Sounding like a no-no,
    Mating when I can,

    so. damn. classic.

    nikki minaj, beyonce, and gaga are not even equipped to kiss lady grace’s boots. although i will give gaga props for admitting her admiration for ms jones. i do actually like gaga.

    i recommend these songs
    demolition man
    nightclubbing
    private life
    my jamaican man
    i’ve seen that face before (libertango)
    slave to the rhythm
