There’s no defining or boxing Black beauty, it’s reach is global. And when it comes to flyness, well, it spans the four corners of the earth. We picked some of our favorite girls who rep their countries proudly through talent and personal style.

From England to Jamaica to Nigeria, here are our 10 top picks!

Alexandra Burke
Every since this English songstress won the fifth series of UK’s “The X Factor,” she has been hitting the pavement from London to NYC. Alexandra Burke’s style, like her vocals, are always on point. We love it that Alex gives just enough; an awesome balance to the other English sistas who made our list.

Nneka
Straight out of Nigeria, Nneka’s voice is a stirring experience. Her socially conscious music and Black girl fierceness sharpens her boho meets b-girl style. Her massive fro filled with curly tendrils, we rock with Nneka because she has a host of wisdom beneath it.

Estelle
Risk-taker. Fresh. And, to borrow London’s words, Wicked! These are just a few words to describe the gorgeous Estelle. A game-changer in the making, this London girl who loves American boys will make heads roll with her eye-gawking hair, and killer shoes! We take pause to Estelle’s performance—like her red carpet game, this brown girl is undeniably fly.

Jeneil Williams
At the age of 20, this rising star takes some of the dopest and most introspective pictures in the game. Her face, her lips, her legs are simply beautiful! Born in Jamaica, Jeneil Williams does the islands proud—from her magazine covers and editorials to her runway skill. Jeneil nailed New York Fashion Week, walking the Burberry, Marc Jacobs, and Vivenne Westwood shows.

Alesha Dixon
Alesha is an international powerhouse, and we dig it. This English television host, singer, dancer, and songwriter gives fly style. Whether she’s jetting from Heathrow to JFK, look for Alesha to wow you with her gorgeous tresses and unforgettable and versatile flavor.

Les Nubians
Talk about a global and inspirational style. Les Nubians are easily transcultural style icons. Their mix of classical African styles with contemporary urban wear is fly-worthy! These French sisters offer imaginative looks with their hair, makeup and garments. Les Nubians rock! And we can’t wait for their album to drop!

Marie Daulne of Zap Mama
The anchor of Belgian music group Zap Mama, Marie Daulne is a global goddess. Her voice, her face, her moves, and her instinctive personal style had us since the group’s transformative track “W’Happy Mama.” A fiery activist who connects the European and Africa musical worlds, Daulne is one fly sista to know!

Corinne Bailey Rae
What can we say about Corinne Bailey Rae? Her minimalist and sultry melodies, like her understated style, are always winners. Corinne gives a simple blazer, ballet flats, and a flowing scarf, and will steal the show. We heart Corinne because she’s true to herself, and that essence just shines organically.

Shingai Shoniwa
Shingai’s multi-textural pompadour serves up a fierce competition to Janelle Monae. The pop colors she’s known to rock are consistently an exciting juxtaposition to her deep ebony skin. This South London rocker’s style, like her bassist tunes, sends her flyness off the charts!

Naomie Harris
Naomie Harris is a long-time actress whose star is on the rise. From “Miami Vice” to “Pirates of the Caribbean,” Harris is a method actress with amazing depth. But when she steps on that red carpet, she evokes Old Hollywood glamour that would make Diahann Carroll turn her head twice. We covet Harris’ classic evening gowns and soft wavy hair. This London girl is a class act.

As long as I can remember I’ve always looked to Europe for music and fashion. I’m glad these ladies made the list. I’ve been a fan of Les Nubians and Zap Mama for over 10 years.

I’m from England, souf London to be exact, and I just want to say that no one says ‘wicked’ anymore. That’s soo old.
But other than that, great list!

While I like the choice of women on the list, I have to call out an bias since all these women are European. Where are my Canadian ladies such as Melanie Fiona,Deborah Cox, Tamia, Jully Black, Fefe Dobson among an whole list of others. This list fails to be called “international” if the ladies featured are only from England and other parts of Europe. More diversity next time for women of colour from Canada, the West Indies, Africa and Asia.

  8. Rai Monique says:

You all have me grooving to Les Nubians right now. This group always lifts my spirit. I know she’s old school, but I was hoping to see Sade on here :)

  9. Von says:

Ladies, if you haven’t heard of Lindiwe Suttle then you you need to seriously check out this international trendsetter, singer, actress and stylist. Her style is impeccable and just as glamorous as her mothers, Dr. Felicia Mabuza-Suttle, often called the Oprah of South Africa. I’ll put it like this, our style is on a global level and not just limited to those who are the celebrity du jour.
