    love it was thinking about this topic the other day, hearing a lot of guys saying they don’t like this look at it makes women look like men. But I have yet to see a woman bald or close cropped that looks like a man, unless she’s trying to. And the absence of hair can show how beautiful a woman truly is.

  3. Yes No Hair and damn sure don’t care!!

    I always thought that women who rock a bald head or a close crop was bold, strong and just plain cool because in a society where we are obsessed with hair especially in the black community it is nice to see someone going against the trend.

    There is NO doubt about it, when I wore my hair short,I was the most confident I ever was in my life AND I receved hoards of attention. If I could, I would do it all over again. Women in short crops demand attention especially is their style is on point!

    I wore my hair in a closely cropped cesar for 18 years. My husband and I met in the barber shop. I always loved the confidence that a black woman had to go against mainstream and do the whole “long hair” thing. However, now that I have moved from D.C. to down south, the vibe is tremendously different. Started growing my hair back because I was getting more looks of sympathy than admiration. To make it worse, my hubby asked me to grow may hair. Now that I have some (braids in a bob) and want to cut it all off again, no one wants me to cut it off! I felt my best with no hair. It made people listen to me and not “look” at me. Hair is just way too much trouble.

      Cut it off! If you looked good in it and you were fierce and fly– go back to that place. I moved from Chicago to the south and if you don’t have a perm or a weave these women look at you like you’re crazy. I rock my afro puff with pride! And women who wear bald heads are FIERCE!!!!

    I am too recently again bald. I was so stoked to see this posted on BGLH, and I’m glad to be directed to this site, which in just yesterday, i was toying with growing my hair back out. But i love it short, sure i cant wear cute headbands but my head makes my ever so festive cute earrings stand out.
    love the ode to us who know bold, bald, and natural is the way

    @au naturale

    Just do you and don’t let others dictate what you should do. If you like your hair short, wear it that way. If you want to grow it to please your husband, then just do it. Never let anyone define how you should look

    11 months ago when i did my amber rose cut to start my natural journey, it felt like weight lifted off my shoulders. it felt orgasmic to have the water hit my head in the shower. i felt so reborn! the confidence that comes with it is just natural fabness. i have a special respect for women who take the plunge to rock the amber rose becuz it takes a special kinda confidence inside to take notice…oh you WILL be noticed. u see the real, raw beauty of a woman’s face when u cant hide behind bangs and i LOVE it. i will permanently rock my amber rose real soon!

    This is the first time I’ve seen an article pay homage to Grace Jones and Alek Wek, normally they just talk about Amber Rose. A lot of times I just think about cutting it all off and starting a new. What the worst that could happen? You look too fabulous for people to handle?

    Love this! I remember the first time I shaved my hair into a caesar it was my 19th birthday and my mom gave me money to get my hair done. I come shoulder length hair gone, she replied “I didn’t give you enough money” lol. It felt amazing that was like 13 years ago, nobody was rocking it, I felt so free and sexy a bit androgynous and rebellious all at the same time. Rocked it for a few years grew out a natural, cut it again when my mom died, now it is long and I think about returning to the caesar all the time because it is fierce and sexy all the same. Great read!
